Men's hockey loses to St. John's
![]() The Pipers (2-4, 1-1 in the MIAC), who won the first game of the series 2-1 on Saturday night, trailed 3-1 heading into the third period before sophomore Joe Long pulled the Pipers within a goal with his seventh of the season. Just over a minute later, the Johnnies (2-4, 1-1) answered back with a Joel Stacklie goal at 7:30 to make the score 4-2. Nineteen seconds later, the Johnnies added another goal to put the game out of reach. Long had a goal and an assist for the Pipers. Steve Festler added his second goal of the season in the second period. The Johnnies held a 44-27 edge in shots on goal for the game. Goaltender Vince Wheeler made 25 saves for the win. Hamline netminder Matt Wanvig stopped 37 shots in a losing effort. The Pipers will host Gustavus on Dec. 1 at Drake Arena. Game time is set for 7:15 p.m. |
