Keseley lifts Gusties past men's hockey in overtime again

Defenseman Jon Keseley scored the game-winning goal in overtime for the second time in as many nights as Gustavus defeated Hamline 5-4 Saturday night in St. Peter, Minn.

After scoring 25 seconds into overtime on Friday, Keseley netted the game-winner at 4:19 to improve the Gustie record to 4-6-1, 4-0 in the MIAC.

The Pipers (2-6, 1-3) took a 4-2 lead into the third period thanks to a three-goal second period. First-year Kyle Kurr knotted the game at 2-2 at 6:28 of the second period. The Pipers would take the lead on a Lee Joos power-play goal 2 1/2 minutes later. Joos scored a pair of goals in the contest.

Sophomore Dustin Fulton later gave the Pipers a two-goal advantage at 10:41 with his third goal of the season.

Gustavus answered with two goals in the third. Ben Ollila scored at 8:52 and 11:08 of the third period to force the overtime session.

Hamline netminder Todor Petkov made 52 saves in the contest, including nine in the overtime period. Kevin Johnson earned the win, making 17 stops.

The Pipers will play at Concordia in MIAC action on Friday. The puck will drop at 7:00 p.m.
