Men's hockey falls to UW-Eau Claire, 5-4![]()
![]() The Pipers (1-3) netted four goals on just six shots in the first 20 minutes of action. Sophomore Joe Long netted his fourth goal on the weekend on the power-play to knot the score at 1-1 at 4:54 of the period. Hamline would tally three more times in the period. First-year Lee Joos scored on the power play at 11:51 to give the Pipers a 2-1 lead. First-year Cory Krogen and sophomore Dustin Fulton each added goals in the first period. The Blugolds (4-1) battled back with three scores in the second period to tie the game and the game's only third period goal to earn the win. Sean Garrity netted the final three goals of the game for UW-Eau Claire. Hamline goaltender Matt Wanvig made 46 saves in the contest - a night after making 52 saves in a 7-5 win over ninth-ranked UW-Stevens Point. Ryan Mensing earned the win for the Blugolds making six saves in 22:48. Starter Tyler Brigl gave up four goals on nine shots. The Pipers will open conference play when they host St. John's Saturday night at Drake Arena. Game time is set for 7:15 p.m. |
