Concordia shuts out men's hockey

The Pipers outshot Concordia 37-33, but the Cobbers came away with a 4-0 win Friday night in Moorhead, Minn.

Concordia (4-4, 1-2 in the MIAC) received 33 saves from goaltender Jeremy Boniface, who made 15 saves in the final period, to earn their first conference win of the season.

The Pipers (2-7, 1-4) fired 14 shots on Boniface in the first period, but could not crack the scoreboard.

Concordia opened the scoring at 7:28 of the first period on a Mark Buchholz goal - his third goal of the season. The Cobbers added a pair of second period tallies by Shawn Goos and Sean Lofgren. Ryan Clukey added his third goal of the season late in the third period.

Hamline netminder Matt Wanvig stopped 29 shots for the Pipers.

The two teams will finish their two-game series Saturday afternoon in Moorhead. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
