Men's hockey earns second tie of weekend

The Hamline University men's hockey team earned their second tie in as many games, finishing 1-1 in overtime against visiting UW-Superior.

Joe LongScoreless first, third and overtime periods of the game allowed a two-goal second period to determine the final score.

UW-Superior gained a 1-0 advantage 15 minutes into the second period, but at 19:25 in the same period, Joe Long (Jr., Dayton, Minn.) scored his second goal of the season on assists from Cory Krogen (So., Marshall, Minn.) and Jared Hummel (Fy., Eagan, Minn.).

In goal for the Pipers for the second consecutive night, Zach Faust (So., White Bear Lake, Minn.) was the key factor in both overtime ties. Faust was in net for all 130 minutes of play on Friday and Saturday, allowing just two goals for a goals against average of 0.92. Faust had 38 saves for a save percentage of .950 in the two games.

The Pipers open conference play on the road on Friday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. They return home for their first conference game at Drake Arena on Saturday, November 17 at 7:15 p.m.
