Dustin Fulton
The Hamline University men's hockey team fell 3-1 to Gustavus on Saturday, splitting the weekend series with the Gusties.

After a scoreless first period, the Pipers' lone goal was the first score of the game, coming at 3:19 in the second period. Dustin Fulton (Jr., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) had just spent two minutes in the penalty box for hooking, when he placed a Jimmy Van Asch (So., Blaine, Minn.) steal into the net for the 1-0 lead.

Gustavus needed 11 more minutes before they scored at 14:06 when Mitch Carlson's (Fy., St. Louis Park, Minn.) power play goal came with an assist from David Martinson (So., St. Louis Park, Minn.).

The game remained tied until halfway through the final period when Patrick Dynan (So., Maple Plain, Minn.) scored the game-winning goal at 10:22. The assist was credited to Tony Palma (So., Lino Lake, Minn.).

With 30 seconds remaining in the game, Hamline called a time-out with the face-off just outside their zone, but couldn't control the puck when play resumed. Gustavus' Joe Welch (So., Hastings, Minn.) scored the third goal for the Gusties on Martinson's second assist of the game at 19:46.

Gustavus improved to 3-3-0, 1-1-0 MIAC while Hamline fell to 1-3-2, 1-1-0 MIAC.

The Pipers return to the ice on Friday, November 30, at 7:15 p.m. when they will host Concordia to start a two-game home series.
