Fulton tallies 3 points in Piper defeat of Blugolds![]()
![]() The Pipers and Blugolds exchanged goals early in the game, resulting in a 2-2 tied after 21 minutes of play. Fulton opened the scoring at 5:21 in the first period with an unassisted goal, giving Hamline the early lead. UW-Eau Claire scored their first goal at 14:29, but the Pipers quickly regained the lead when Fulton scored his second goal of the game at 14:57 on the first puck possession following the face-off after the goal. Chris Berenguer (Fy., Eden Prairie, Minn.) was credited with the assist on the goal. The Blugolds didn't score in response until 53 seconds into the second period. Hamline broke the tie at 8:57 with Matt Buckley (So., Dayton, Minn.) and Jared Hummel (Fy., Eagan, Minn.) combining for assists on Kyle Kurr's (So., Elk River, Minn.) goal. The Pipers' game-winner was a power play goal scored at 12:01 by defenseman Joe Long (Jr., Dayton, Minn.) on assists from Fulton and Cory Korgen (So., Marshall, Minn.). UW-Eau Claire pulled their goalie with 1:08 remaining, and scored their final goal at 19:38, but the Pipers skated away with the 4-3 victory. Fulton's two goals and assist bring him to 10 goals and 12 assists on the year, which leads the Pipers. Fulton is at the top of the MIAC overall points and goal scoring lists, and his power play assist puts him at the top of the MIAC overall statistics in power play points. Hamline improved to 7-5-2, 3-1-0 MIAC with the non-conference win. The team returns to MIAC play on Friday, January 18 when Saint Mary's comes to St. Paul for a 7:15 p.m. puck drop at Drake Arena. |
