Win streak broken at UW-Stevens Point
The Pipers struck first in a game that saw all of the scoring take place within four minutes at the beginning of the second period. Nick Zilka's (Fy., Mound, Minn.) second goal of the year came at 2:05 put the Pipers ahead 1-0. Joe Long (Jr., Dayton, Minn.) and Kyle Kurr (So., Elk River, Minn.) combined for the assists. Hamline's lead would last for less than two minutes, as Stevens Point tied the game at 3:56. They then scored an unassisted goal that ultimately was the game-winner at 5:57 in the second period. UW-Stevens Point out-shot the Pipers 34-30. Matt Wanvig (So., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) made the 32 saves in goal for the Pipers, taking the loss. The Pipers record falls to 6-4-2, 3-1-0 MIAC with the non-conference loss. Hamline remains on the road in Wisconsin on Saturday, January 12, traveling to UW-Eau Claire for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop. |
