St. Thomas defeats men's hockey 5-2

The Tommies scored three unanswered goals to end the game and defeat Hamline 5-2 Friday night in Mendota Heights, Minn.

With the score tied at 2-2 after the first period, St. Thomas (15-8-1, 12-2-1 in the MIAC) scored twice in the second period and once more in the third.

Matt Kaiser scored the eventual game-winner for the Tommies at 1:20 of the second period.

Hamline (4-16-3, 3-9-2) scored first as first-year Dustin Fulton scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season at 7:22 of the first period.

Tommie forward Colin Greenlees scored two goals in a span of 1:01 to give the Tommies a lead before Jim Erickson tied the game heading into the first intermission.

Hamline goaltender Todor Petkov made 35 saves for the Pipers in the loss.

The Pipers will close out the 2005-06 season when they host the Tommies Saturday night at Drake Arena. Game time is set fir 7:15 p.m.
