Hanna gives Pipers 4-4 tie

First-year Justin Hanna scored his second goal of the game at 19:19 of the third period to force overtime and give the Hamline men's hockey team at 4-4 tie against St. Olaf Saturday night at Drake Arena.

The Pipers (3-15-3, 2-8-2 in the MIAC) took a 2-1 lead after two periods with Hanna accounting for both goals. Hanna scored at 16:23 of the first period to knot the game at 1-1. He later assisted on a Dustin Fulton goal in the second period for the lead.

First-year Steve Festler scored 1:54 into the third period before the Oles stormed back with three straight goals over a span of 10:04.

With an extra attacker, Hanna scored the game-tying goal with assists from Fulton and Joe Long.

Hamline goaltender Todor Petkov made 31 saves in the contest. Hamline was outshot 35-29 in the contest.

The Pipers will host Bethel Friday night at Drake Arena. Game time is set for 7:15 p.m.
