Men's hockey shutout by St. John's

Johnnie Tom Freeman scored a pair of goals as St. John's shutout Hamline 4-0 Friday night at Drake Arena.

Freeman netted a power-play goal at 3:16 of the second period to give the Johnnies (5-2-1, 3-0 in the MIAC) a 2-0 advantage. He later added his second goal of the game 59 seconds into the third period.

Pat Eagles started the scoring for St. John's on the power play at 6:59 of the first period. Jake Hipp also added a goal for the Johnnies.

Hamline (1-6-2, 0-2-1) was outshot 47-16 in the contest. Reigning MIAC Athlete of the Week Cameron Voss made 43 saves in goal for the Pipers.

Johnnie netminder Adam Hanna stopped all 16 shots for the shutout win.

The two teams will meet against Saturday afternoon in St. Cloud, Minn. The puck will drop at 2:00 p.m.
