Men's hockey falls to Bethel

Royal Steve Eastman scored a hat trick as Bethel defeated Hamline 12-1 Saturday night in Fridley, Minn.

Eastman scored a goal in each period for Bethel (9-12-2, 7-5-2). He scored the last of three goals in the first period at 16:46. He opened the scoring in the second period at 2:01. Eastman also scored at 17:07 of the third period.

After a three-goal first period, the Royals scored  five times in the second and four more in the third.

Hamline (4-16-3, 3-9-2) received its lone goal from Kyle Turner at 14:24 of the third period. It was Turner's first goal of his career.

Hamline goaltender Todor Petkov made 24 saves in the game. Backup Adam Talatinick stopped 15 shots. Dustin Thompson made 22 saves for Bethel.

The Pipers will travel to St. Thomas in their last series of the season. The series begins Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
