Men's hockey loses in overtime to Bethel

First-year goaltender Cameron Voss made 55 saves, but Kent Bostrom scored 18 seconds into overtime as Bethel beat Hamline 3-2 Saturday night at the Hockey Showcase in Blaine, Minn.

Voss stopped 55 of 58 shots in the contest, including 21 in a scoreless third period.

Trailing 1-0 after the first period, Hamline (1-5-2) took the lead in the second. First-year Steve Festler knotted the game at 1-1 with his first goal of the season at 8:14 of the period. Senior Mike Forconi added a power-play goal at 12:24 to give Hamline the lead. First-year Joe Long assisted on both goals for the Pipers.

Bethel (7-1) tied the game up four minutes later on a Fletcher Emerson goal.

Bethel goaltender Jesse Farley made 13 saves for the victory. Voss loses his first career game and is now 1-1-2 on the season.

Hamline will host St. John’s Friday night at Drake Arena. Game time is set for 7:15 p.m.
