Men's hockey earns tie from Augsburg
Hamline (0-4-2, 0-1-1 in the MIAC) trailed 3-2 heading into the third period, but senior defenseman Shane Wagner scored the equalizer at 16:27 with a wrister from the point through traffic. The two teams would skate to a tie despite both teams having power plays in the overtime session. Augsburg (4-1-1, 1-0-1) took a 2-0 lead in the first 2:44 of the game. Kyle Erickson scored on the power play to make the score 1-0 1:35 into the game. Less than a minute later, Ian Bing scored with a wrister from the top of the right faceoff circle. First-year forward Dustin Fulton cut the lead in half heading into the first intermission with his third goal of the season. The two teams exchanged power-play goals in the second period with Augsburg scoring at 6:10 on a Greg May goal. First-year Joe Long scored at 16:11 to make the score 3-2. Augsburg was 2-for-8 on the power play. The Pipers were 1-for-6 with an extra skater. Hamline netminder stopped 34 shots to earn his second tie of the season. Augburg goaltender Tony Ciro had 29 saves. Hamline will next play Finlandia in the Hockey Showcase next Friday. Game time is Blaine is slated for 7:30 p.m. |
