![]() ![]() Hamline (1-2) led 73-59 with 6:58 left in the contest before Northwestern (4-1) made the comeback. The Eagles scored on nine of their last 10 possessions of the game to earn the win. Up by one with 24 seconds in the game, sophomore Jon DeRock hit one of two free throws to give Hamline a 78-76 advantage, but Strelecki answered with his third three-pointer of the game to give the Eagles their first lead since late in the first half. DeRock led the Pipers with 24 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field. DeRock has topped 20 points in each of Hamline's three games this season. Sophomore Tony Thrasher added 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds while Chris Babcock and Nate Heussner added 11 points. Steve Discher netted a game-high 25 points. Strelecki added 14 points, including the game-winning bucket, and Daniel Hanson chipped in 13. Hamline shot 50 percent for the contest (29-58) while holding the Eagles to 48 percent (26-54). The Eagles made up the difference at the free throw line where they were 21-of-27 for the game. Hamline made 14-of-21 from the charity stripe. The Pipers will open conference play when they host Bethel next Saturday at Hutton Arena. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. |
