Three Pipers earn MIAC Men's Basketball Awards![]()
![]() DeRock, from Buffalo Lake, Minn., earned All-MIAC honorable mention after being named to the first team as a first-year. The guard averaged 14.8 points per contest in conference play. He also averaged 3.6 rebounds and 2.55 assists per game. DeRock shot 45 percent from the floor (112-of-249) and 32.3 percent from three-point range (31-of-96). DeRock was named MIAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week on Feb. 5 after posting 29.0 ppg and 6.5 rpg in a pair of Hamline wins over Augsburg and Concordia. Thrasher, from Hustisford, Wis., was named honorable mention for the second consecutive year. The sophomore scored 15.2 points per game to go along with 4.3 rebounds. Thrasher shot 47.6 percent from the floor (111-of-233) and 27.3 percent from three-point range (18-of-66). On Dec. 18, Thrasher was conference player of the week after averaging 28.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in wins over St. Olaf and St. Scholastica. Wiener, from Marshall, Minn., finished his career as a three-time MIAC All-Defense selection. After spending his first season at Division II Southwest Minnesota State, Wiener played the last three seasons with the Pipers. He leaves with 172 steals - good for second on Hamline's all-time list. Wiener also was named to the MIAC All-Sportsmanship team. Hamline finished the season with a record of 8-17, 6-14 in the MIAC. |
