![]() The Pipers (4-9, 2-6 in the MIAC) trailed 12-11 with 14:43 remaining in the first half before the Gusties (7-6, 5-3) went on the decisive run, holding Hamline to 1-of-9 shooting over the next seven minutes. Seven different Gusties scored during the run. Gustie Jesse Van Sickle came off the bench to score five of his game-high 18 points during the span. He netted 11 points in the first half as Gustavus went into the break with a 40-23 lead. Van Sickle finished the afternoon 7-of-10 shooting - 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Hamline was paced by sophomore forward Tony Thrasher, who scored 12 points. He was only Piper in double figures. Seniors Kyle Foster and Sam Wiener each added eight points. Gustie Andrew Olson added 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Phil Sowden chipped in nine points and seven rebounds. The Pipers were held to 37.3 shooting in the game (19-51). They were 8-of-23 in the first half (34.8 percent). Gustavus shot at a 47.1 percent clip for the contest (24-51). They also sank 18-of-20 free throw attempts. Hamline will host St. John's Monday night at Hutton Arena. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. |
