Poor shooting sinks men's basketball
![]() The Pipers (3-7, 1-4 in the MIAC) shot 17-of-60 from the field in the game, halting their two-game winning streak. After shooting 34.5 percent in the first half, Hamline went completely cold in the second half, shooting at a 22.6 percent clip (7-of-31). Hamline missed all seven of their three-point attempts in the first half. The team was 0-of-10 from beyond the arc in the second half. Senior guard Sam Wiener netted 10 points for the Pipers. Senior Kyle Foster added eight points and seven rebounds. Hamline's two leading scorers heading into the night, Jon DeRock and Tony Thrasher, were held to just six points apiece. Augsburg (6-3, 3-1) ended the first half on a 10-0 run to take a 29-23 lead into the break. The Auggies later outscored the Pipers 11-4 during the first two minutes of the second half and were never threatened. Darren Nelson led the way for the Auggies with 15 points. Dan Graf added 14 points and 11 assists while Chuck Scott chipped in 10 points. Point guard Jon Cassens had six points with six rebounds and eight assists for the Auggies. The Pipers will travel to Concordia on Saturday. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. |
