Pipers lose to St. Thomas in MIAC Semifinal![]()
![]() Trailing 46-35 at the break, Hamline (12-15) could not make the comeback they made two nights before at St. John's to earn their first postseason win in 21 years. The Pipers, playing their third road game in six days, shot just 21 percent in the second half (5-24) while the Tommies couldn't miss. They were 67 percent in the second half (20-30) and 63 percent for the game (36-57). Bryan Schnettler scored a game-high 29 points on 10 of 13 shooting from the field. He was one of four Tommie starters in double figures. Mike Keating added 18 points for St. Thomas (21-5), who will host Carleton in the MIAC Championship game. Isaac Rosefelt chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Sean Sweeney netted 11 points. Hamline first-year Jon DeRock scored 16 points - 14 in the first half to keep the Pipers within striking distance. He was the only Piper in double figures. Sophomore Kory Kelzer added nine points. Joe Smock and Charley Good each scored seven. Hamline trailed 25-22 with more than eight minutes left in the first half, but the Tommies went on a 17-4 run before the half to break the game open. The Pipers were outrebounded in the contest 40-29, 22-10 in the second half. |
