Tommies too much for men's basketball

St. Thomas shot 65 percent for the game as they defeated Hamline 104-59 Saturday afternoon in St. Paul, Minn.

Hamline (7-11, 6-7 in the MIAC) dropped its second MIAC contest in as many games with the loss. St. Thomas (14-4, 10-2)maintained their one-game lead in the conference standings.

St. Thomas built a 46-28 halftime lead after shooting 59 percent from the floor in the half (17-29). Isaac Rosefelt had 16 of his game-high 31 points in the first half. He ended the game 14 of 18 from the field with 10 rebounds.

Sophomore Joe Smock kept the Pipers in the game with 10 first half points.

However, the Tommies were even better in the second half connecting on 71 percent of their shots (22-31). Sean Sweeney, Bryan Schnettler, and Lonnie Robinson all added 10 points for the Tommies.

Hamline was paced by Kyle Foster, who netted 11 points. Smock and first-year Tony Thrasher each totaled 10 points.

The Pipers will next play St. Olaf on Wednesday at the Metrodome. Tip off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
