Four Pipers earn MIAC Men's Basketball Awards

First-year Jon DeRock earned All-MIAC first team and All-First Year team honors as four Pipers earned awards from the conference, it was announced Wednesday.

First-year Tony Thrasher joined DeRock on the All-First Year team. He was also named All-MIAC honorable mention.

Junior Kyle Foster was named All-MIAC honorable mention, and junior Sam Wiener was on the All-Defensive team - his second time named to the team.

DeRock, from Buffalo Lake, Minn., led the Pipers with a 13.7 points per game in 27 games. He also added 4.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists for the Pipers, who made the playoffs for the first time in 12 seasons and won a playoff game for the first time in 21 seasons.

He was averaged 13.8 ppg and 4.1 rebounds in conference play. DeRock was the 10th leading scorer in the conference. He was also fifth in assists and seventh in steals.

Thrasher, from Hustisford, Wis., was the Pipers' second-leading scorer with 12.6 ppg to go along with 4.3 rpg in all games. He shot 50 percent from the floor in his first season (133-264). In conference action, he averaged 12.9 ppg and 4.4 rpg.

Foster, from Apple Valley, Minn., was named All-MIAC honorable mention after scoring 11.8 ppg in conference play. He was also fifth in the league in rebounds (7.9 rpg) and fourth in steals (1.89 spg).

Wiener, from Marshall, Minn., was named to the MIAC All-Defensive team for the second time of his career. He was eighth in steals during conference play with 1.65 per game.
