Foster, DeRock lead Pipers past Cobbers
Both Hamline (6-9, 5-5 in the MIAC) and Concordia (5-9, 4-6) entered the game tied for sixth place in the MIAC, but the Pipers erased a 13-point deficit in the second half to earn the victory. Hamline went on a 23-7 run during an 7:13 stretch early in the second half sparked by 10 points from Foster. The junior went 9 of 15 from the floor and 5 of 5 from the free throw line. DeRock also added four points during the run. The lead would change eight times in the final 10 minutes of play before Foster gave the Pipers the lead for good with a pair of free throws with 59 seconds left. Then, it was time for DeRock. On the Cobbers next two possessions, DeRock had two steals before Concordia could start their offensive set. He would hit 3 of 4 free throws only to get the offensive rebound on his miss to seal the win. Brock Citterman scored a game-high 25 points on 9 of 22 shooting. Jason Miller added 20 points for the Cobbers, who led 44-35 at the break. DeRock finished with 14 for Hamline. Kory Kelzer added 13. Foster added eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Junior Sam Wiener chipped in eight points and seven assists. Hamline will next host Gustavus Saturday afternoon at Hutton Arena. Game time is set for 3:15 p.m.
