Men's basketball defeats Carleton 81-75![]()
![]() DeRock went 9 of 12 from the field with nine rebounds and six assists while Good was 7 of 9 from the floor to lead the Pipers (2-3, 1-1 in the MIAC). Hamline broke open a close game right before half. Leading 24-22 with 5:02 left in the first half, Hamline went on a 10-3 spurt before going into the break with a 37-28 lead. The Pipers came out scorching in the second half, shooting 65 percent (17-26) over the final 20 minutes. The Hamline lead would balloon to as many as 16 points after a Tony Thrasher three-pointer with 10:32 left in the contest. Thrasher finished the game with 13 points and seven rebounds. Carleton (2-3, 0-2) cut the lead to 72-68 with 2:34 left, but Hamline scored five straight points on back-to-back buckets by David Johnson and Kyle Foster. Hamline held a 43-25 advantage on the boards. Foster grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Pipers. Carleton was led by Dan Forkrud's 20 points on 8 of 14 shooting. Jake Phillips added 19 points while Zach Johnson chipped in 14. Hamline shot 52 percent from the floor in the contest (31-60). The Knights were 48 percent from the field (28-59). The Pipers will host St. Thomas Monday night at Hutton Arena. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. |
