Gymnasts finish second at UW-Eau Claire Invitational

Sophomore Brynn Stenslie won the individual championship in the floor exercise to lead the Pipers to a second place finish in the UW-Eau Claire Invitational held Friday night in Eau Claire, Wis.

Stenslie scored a 9.525 to post the highest scoring in the floor exercise on the evening. She was joined in the top three of the event by sophomore Kristen Weniger, who finished third overall with a score of 9.475.

Stenslie was also the Pipers' highest finisher in the balance beam, posting an 8.65.

The Pipers finished the evening with a score of 175.75 to take second. UW-La Crosse won the invitational with a 181.9. Host UW-Eau Claire was third with 174.0 while Gustavus was fourth with 170.775.

Sophomore Alex Hughes, who earned All-America honors in the vault last season, paced the team in the event with a score of 9.275 - good for fourth overall. Sophomore Kayla Sirmans led Hamline in the uneven bars with an 8.8.

Weniger finished fourth in the all-around competition with a four-event score of 34.475.

The Pipers will host Winona State next Sunday afternoon at the Walker Fieldhouse. Meet time is set for 2:00 p.m.
