Weniger earns WIAC athlete of week honors

Kristen Weniger's two-event and all-around victories in the Hamline Triangular meet on Friday earned her WIAC gymnast of the week honors, the conference office announced today. This marks the second time in three weeks that a Hamline University gymnast has earned the weekly WIAC honor.

The junior gymnast from Eagan, Minn. helped the Pipers to a second-place finish in their home triangular meet with UW-La Crosse and Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday. 

Weniger won the all-around title with a score of 35.700 (8.9 vault, 8.7 uneven parallel bars, 8.875 balance beam and 9.225 floor exercise).  She also claimed two events, taking the title on the uneven bars and floor exercise.  Weniger added a seventh place finish on the balance beam and eight place standing on the vault. 

The Pipers return to competition this Friday, January 25 in the  John Zuerlein Invitational at UW-Stout. The meet features Hamline, UW-Stout, UW-Eau Claire, and Gustavus, and will begin at 6:00 p.m.
