Stenslie win individual balance beam championship, gymnasts finish fourth at WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regional

First-year Brynn Stenslie tied for first in the balance beam competition to lead Hamline to a fourth place finish at the WIAC Championships/West Regional held Friday night at UW-Oshkosh.

Stenslie finished with a 9.475 in the balance beam to tie with UW-La Crosse's Mackenzie Howard. Stenslie also earned All-WIAC honors in the floor excercise, placing tied for sixth with a score of 9.5.

To be considered All-WIAC, an athlete must be in the top six of an individual event or all-around competition.

Hamline finished the meet with a score of 179.175. They just missed qualifying for the national meet as a team. The top three teams from each regional reach the NCGA Nationals. UW-La Crosse won the meet with 182.9. UW-Eau Claire was second with 181.0 while host UW-Oshkosh was third with 180.9.

Junior Katie Davis also earned All-WIAC honors by finishing tied for sixth in the uneven bars, scoring a 9.1.

First-year Alex Hughes led the Pipers on the vault with a score of 9.4.

Individual qualifiers for the NCGA Championships will be announced next week.
