Gymnasts win UW-Eau Claire Invitational

The Hamline gymnastics team came away in first place at the three-team UW-Eau Claire Invitational held Saturday in Eau Claire, Wis.

The Pipers beat both host UW-Eau Claire and UW-Whitewater with a score of 174.45. Eau Claire was second with 173.05. Whitewater was third at 169.0.

Pipers finished first and third in the all-around competition. First-year Kristen Weniger took first place with a score of 35.85. Weniger finished first overall in the floor exercise (9.425) as well as third in the vault (9.2) and fourth in the uneven bars (8.725).

First-year Kayla Sirmans was third in the all-around, posting a score of 35.125. She won the uneven bars with a scores of 9.05 and the vault with a 9.275. She was second in the florr exercise (9.25).

The Pipers won all four individual events as first-year Brynn Stenslie took the balance beam, posting an 8.925.

Senior Emily Wind added a second place overall finish in the uneven bars, posting an 8.975.

Hamline will host UW-Whitewater on Sunday, Jan. 22. Meet time is set for 1:00 p.m.
