Cobbers top Pipers in football
![]() Concordia started the scoring just over five minutes into the game on blocked punt return. Hamline answered back later in the first quarter when senior Tyler Scholl (Trimont, Minn.) forced the fumble on Cobber quarterback Jesse Nelson, allowed Anderson to score. Sophomore Derek Johnson's (Casa Grande, Ariz.) kick was good to even the score at 7-7. The Cobbers then put together a 20-0 run in the second and third quarters to take a 27-7 lead before Cory Johnson from Concordia fumbled near their own goal line, recovered by Klees for the touchdown. Johnson's kick was good once again, bringing the score to 27-14. That was all that the Pipers could manage to put on the scoreboard, and the Cobbers reached the endzone one more time to win the game 34-14. Hamline had 134 yards rushing and 118 yards in the air against the Cobbers. Concordia had 345 yards on the ground and 160 yards passing in the game. The Pipers return home next Saturday for homecoming weekend after a month-long road trip. They will take on Carleton College on October 13 at 1:00 p.m. |
