Three Pipers named to All-MIAC football teams

Senior strong safety Tyler Schultz earned All-MIAC first team honors for the second time of his career while seniors Rick Dimon and Brody Anderson were named to the second team, the MIAC office announced on Monday.

Schultz, from Rollingstone, Minn., led the Pipers in tackles for the fourth consecutive season. He amassed 262 career tackles in his four seasons with 82 stops (46 solo, 36 assists) coming in his senior season.

In 2006, he was the second-leading tackler in the MIAC during conference games, averaging 9.0 tackles per contest. He also added two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Schultz was named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V on November 9.

Schultz earned All-MIAC last season along with ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V, D3football.com All-West Region second team, and Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-America third team. He was named a Pre-Season All-American by Don Hansen's Football Gazette prior to the 2006 season.

Dimon, from Champlin, Minn., was named to the second team for the second time in his career. The offensive lineman started eight games for the Pipers this season and was a mainstay on the left side of the line. The guard was also named to the second team following his sophomore season in 2004.

Anderson, from Floodwood, Minn., earned second team honors for the first time of his career. Anderson was third on the Pipers with 60 tackles (31 solo, 29 assists). He led the Pipers and was sixth in the MIAC in tackles for loss with 12.0. He forced one fumble and recovered four others.

The Pipers concluded the 2006 season with a 3-7 record, 1-7 in the MIAC.
