Baseball drops pair of games to Loras
In game one, Loras, who won 15-5, jumped out to a quick lead, scoring five runs each in the first, second and fourth innings. In the third inning, Hamline's J.D. Modrynski (Fy., Lakeville, Minn.) walked to lead off, and was then driven to third on a double by Josh Roiger (Sr., West St. Paul, Minn.). As Erik Voldness (Fy., Bloomington, Minn.) grounded out to short, Modrynski scored for the first Piper run of the evening. Hamline would score four more runs in the fifth inning, with Modrynski, Dan Kaczrowski (Jr., St. Anthony, Minn.), Roiger and Andrew Bennett (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) scoring. In game two, won by Loras, 10-3, after a scoreless Piper first, the Duhawks scored four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a quick lead once again. Hamline cut the lead in half over the next three outs, as Tres Humerickhouse (Fy., Farmington, Minn.) singled, stole second, and advanced to third on a single from Roiger. He then scored on a single by Bill Sand (So., White Bear Township, Minn.). The second Piper run in the inning was scored by Roiger when Kaczrowski received a bases-loaded walk. Hamline final run of the night came in the third inning from Humerickhouse. The Pipers fall to 0-3, 0-0 MIAC. The Duhawks, playing their first games of the year, are 2-0. Hamline returns to the field at the Metrodome on Wednesday, March 5 to take on Crown College at 7:30 p.m. in another double header. |
