Baseball closes spring trip with loss to UW-Whitewater

The Hamline baseball team dropped the last game of their spring trip to UW-Whitewater Saturday at the Greater Phoenix Invitational.

After falling behind 6-0, the Pipers (9-9) clawed back to within 6-3 in the eight, but the Warhawks tallied eight unearned runs in the ninth to give them a 14-3 win.

The Pipers were held to six hits in the contest - two by center fielder Sam Wiener. Hamline also committed seven errors that led to 10 unearned runs.

Starter Josh Roiger took the loss, pitching five innings. He allowed five runs - four earned.

The Pipers will start the conference season on March 31 when they host Augsburg at the Metrodome.
