Baseball sweeps Presentation

Junior Charlie Paulson threw a complete game three-hitter as the Pipers beat Presentation 6-0 in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Barnes Field. The Pipers won game two 8-6.

Paulson (2-0) allowed just one runner to second base in the contest. He struck out six and walked three while recording his second win of the year.

The Pipers (19-17) scored all the runs they would need in the first innings. Shortstop Andrew Bennett and catcher Lincoln Hughes each added RBI singles in the inning. Both had two hits in the contest.

Hamline scored a run in the fifth and three in the sixth, including a two-run triple by Derek Rundquist.

Ryan Ellingson (0-2) allowed six runs - two earned - on eight hits in the game for Presentation (15-11).

In game two, the Pipers broke a 5-5 tie with two runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

In the fifth, senior Aaron Thompson hit a two-out, run scoring double to give the Pipers a lead. He later scored on a successful double steal. In the sixth, Jayden Grupe and Thompson each added RBIs.

Presentation brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh, but senior pitcher Kyle Foster struck out Matt Monson to end the game. Foster earned his third save of the year.

Hamline reliever Andrew Seymour (2-1) pitched one inning for the win.

The Pipers will play at St. Mary's on Saturday. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
