Softball completes sweep of Carleton

Hamline finished a two-game sweep of Carleton with a 5-1 win Tuesday afternoon in Northfield, Minn. The game was originally suspended on Sunday.

Hamline (17-11, 10-6 in the MIAC) claimed a 3-0 lead on the Knights (7-21, 3-9) before the rains came on Sunday.

The Pipers plated two runs in the first on an RBI groundout by Grace Weinreich. Second baseman Holly Wiborg lated scored on an error to make it 2-0. Hamline tacked on another unearned run in the second.

Hamline starter Rachel Roberts (7-3) went 3 2/3 innings for the win. She gave up one run on eight hits. Theresa Boleen pitched the final 3 1/3 innings for the save.

Weinreich later added a solo home run to lead off the seventh inning.

The Pipers will play Augsburg Wednesday afternoon at Helen Meredith Field. Game time is set for 4:00p.m.
