Martin earned his second win of the season with the complete game effort. He struck out eight, including all three batters he faced in the first inning, and walked none in the contest.

Junior shortstop Andrew Bennett gave the Pipers (13-10, 4-2 in the MIAC) their first lead of the ball game, going deep to open up the fourth inning. It was Bennett's fifth home run of the season. First-year Bill Sand and junior Geoff Fuller added RBIs in the three-run inning.

Hamline later tallied a single run in the fifth and two more in the seventh. Knight starter Ethan Guevin took the loss, allowing four runs - three earned through six innings.

Bennett, Sand, and James Bachmeier all added two hits to the Pipers' attack. Carleton's Brookes Baumberger, Rob Trettin, and Aaron Troyansky contributed two hits apiece.

The Pipers trailed 7-2 in game two before using a seven-run sixth inning to take the lead and eventual win.

With one on and one already in, first-year Lincoln Hughes hit a two-run single to make the score 7-5. After Dan Kaczrowski's RBI single and Aaron Thompson scored on an error to knot the score at 7-7, Bennett hit his second home run of the day - a two-run shot - to give Hamline their first lead of the contest.

Hamline took an early 1-0 advantage on a Pat O'Laughlin sacrifice fly in the first inning, but the Knights (8-7, 0-2) responded with five runs in the their half of the inning off starter Adam Letson. Knight Doug Sylvester started the scoring with an RBI double. Mat Tinley added a two-run double in the inning for Carleton.

Hamline reliever Dom Chenois picked up the win, pitching 4 1/3 innings. He allowed two runs on two hits, walking one and striking out none. Senior Kyle Foster earned his first save of the season, pitching two scoreless innings.

Thompson, Kaczrowski, and Fuller all had two hits in the game for Hamline.
