Baseball falls to Buena Vista 6-3

The Hamline baseball team dropped a 6-3 decision to Buena Vista Sunday aftternoon at the Greater Phoenix Invitational.

The Pipers (6-5) fell behind 3-0 after four innings and could not recover.

Buena Vista scored single runs in the first, third, and fourth innings off Hamline starter Brian Martin. The junior pitched well through seven innings, allowing five runs - four earned. He struck out 10 batters and walked two.

The Pipers but the lead to 3-2 in the sixth when James Bachmeier and Pat O'Laughlin each added RBI singles.

Hamline had eight hits in the contest. Bachmeier and Dan Kaczrowski each had two for the Pipers.

After giving up another run in the seventh to make the score 4-2, Hamline scored in their half of the inning to cut the deficit to a single run. Kaczrowksi had an RBI double in the inning.

The Pipers will play Albright Monday afternoon at the Greater Phoenix Invitational.
