Assignments:
Please remember to check Classroom Announcements in the
Center.
Please check the syllabus each week for possible
changes.
For the assignments from the Grammar Book, you will find group
numbers indicated in the
Center. Notice that there are only three groups this time.
For this session your groups will be as follows: Group 1 - if your
last name begins with A through G. Group 2 - if your last name begins
with H through M. Group 3 - if your last name begins with N through
W. Please post in the appropriate item, according to your last name;
however, feel free to read the postings from the other groups and respond
to them if you wish. I'm still experimenting with group sizes
and will probably change them slightly each time.
-
Read chapters 7-9 in the Grammar Book. Spend most of your
time and effort on chapters 7 and 8. Read chapter 9, but don't get
into it too heavily UNLESS YOU WANT TO. Ask questions and make comments
in the Center.
-
Do the following exercises on your own. (You don't need to
post all of your answers in the Center.) Then compare notes and ask questions
with your colleagues in the Conference Center: Grammar Book,
page 133, ex. 1 and 5; pages 155-56, ex. 1, 3, and 5; pages
177-78, ex. 6, 7 and 10. Your postings in the Center should include
questions you have or comments you wish to make on something in the assignment.
You can even vent!
-
You may have noticed by now that each chapter has a section on Teaching
Suggestions. This is one of the most valuable sections for you and
makes the book worth the money and worth a place on your shelf. Choose
one Teaching Suggestion from either chapter 7, 8, or 9 and discuss
it in the Center.
Choose one that you have never used before but that you think would be
valuable to try.
