Assignments:
Please remember to check Classroom Announcements in the
Center.
Please check the syllabus for changes.
For the assignments from the Grammar Book, you will find group
numbers indicated in the Center. For this session your groups will
be as follows: Group 1 - if your last name begins with A through
G. Group 2 - if your last name begins with H through M. Group
3 - if your last name begins with N through W. Please post in the
appropriate item, according to your last name; however, I encourage
you to read the postings from the other groups and respond to them if you
wish. The groups are the same as last time. Post both your
discussion of the questions and your teaching suggestion under your group.
-
Read chapters 28-29 in the Grammar Book. Please note
that we are skipping chapter 27. Ask questions and make comments
in the Center.
-
Do the following exercises ON YOUR OWN. Grammar Book,
pages 587-8, ex. 1, 3 and 4; pages 607-8, ex. 3, 4, 5 and 6.
As usual, the answers are given at the back of the book. Do the exercises
yourself and check your answers. Then discuss problematic items and
compare notes with your colleagues in the Center.
-
Choose ONE Teaching Suggestion from EITHER chapter 28 OR
29 and discuss it in the
Center. Choose one that you have never used before but that you
think would be valuable to try. Put your comments within your group
spaces as assigned above.
-
For practice I have included an exercise on relative clauses with the answers.
Feel free to do it. Relative Clause Exercise.
-
I am assigning the third and last group presentation project, which will
be due up and running by December 15th. Group
Presentation 3.
Lecture
I have one lecture that covers what I would like you to know about relative
clauses. You will notice that my approach is sometimes different
from the textbook. I hope that the two complement each other.
