Teaching Interests

Generalist in American Politics, including political behavior, institutions, public policy, and methodology at the undergraduate level. Research interests offer especially strong background for courses on urban/local politics, interest groups, and social movements (American or comparative).

  GIS: Knowledge of ArcView GIS program; computer mapping of census data for use in urban studies and American politics courses. See GIS maps for analysis of the 2004 election in Minnesota .
 
  IT simulations: Used computer simulation SimCity for urban planning unit in interdisciplinary urban studies course. See the assignment.
 

RESEARCH


Research Interests

Current research focuses on urban politics in small cities and citizen group challenges to private firms. General research interests in the areas of social movements, interest groups, and local politics, both from an American and comparative perspective.
