Hamline University is in full compliance with the provisions of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which mandates equal opportunity for qualified physically or learning disabled persons in education programs and activities of all recipients of federal financial assistance.

Section 504 prohibits discrimination on the basis of disabilities, obligates colleges and universities to make certain adjustments and accommodations, and offers to persons with disabilities the opportunity to participate fully in all education programs and activities.

Students with issues of accessibility, such as reassignment of classes to accessible rooms or requiring special academic services because of a disability should contact the Assistant Dean for Academic and Student Affairs/Study Resource Center (651-523-2417). Students with disabilities will be required to provide appropriate documentation which must outline the effects of the disability and include recommendations for reasonable accommodations. The required documentation must be no more than three years old and must be provided by a medical doctor and/or other licensed practitioner.

Reasonable adjustments may include extended testing time, a separate, distraction-free testing space, taped materials, and referral counseling.
