The CBR 600 Hurricane F, commonly known as the Hurricane, was uniuqe when it first came out. They were produced from 1987 to 1990. It was one of the first motorycycle to have a full plastic body designed for primarily aerodynamics, but also looks. Listed below are some of the technical innovations that were partly responsible for the Hurricane's populatriy.
*The Hurricane was twenty pounds lighter then it's competitor's bike's, thereby haveing a better power to weight ratio.
*The Hurricane had 85 peak horsepower at 11,000 RPM, making it the first sportbike to do the quater mile in under 11 seconds. To put that in perspective, no mass produced car does that or has done the quater in under 11 seconds.
*The Hurricane's motor, an inline 600 cc 4 cyclinder was unusual at the time becuase most bikes were using opposing V four cylinders. With the Hurricane's over-square inline four alot of high RPM horsepower and respectable midrange tourque were produced.
