Senior is awarded prestigious Fulbright
Hamline Senior Matt Glass has won a Fulbright scholarship to study in Vienna, Austria for 12 months. He is the first Hamline undergraduate to be awarded the Fulbright by Austria.
Austria traditionally awards the Fulbright only to doctoral candidates, according to German professor Russ Christensen. He said six German students applied for the Fulbright this year. Among them, Glass and senior Jake Kruger set their sights extra high by applying to Austria.

HUSC Pres and VP-elect embattled
When HUSC’s president and vice-president elect present their proposed executive board to the congress on Tuesday, the duo is in for some tough questioning as to their choices.
As the Oracle went to press, Mike Elliot and Ed Elfmann’s proposed executive board was incomplete. One appointed member resigned from the appointment last Thursday. The rest, except for one, lack HUSC experience. None have been on the congress’s executive board before. Multiple sources inside HUSC said there is no chance the proposed board will pass. Others have said that vice president-elect Ed Elfmann is prepared to vote against his proposed executive board.

Mike Elliot and Ed Elfmann are going to be grilled on Tuesday over their proposed executive board appointments. HUSC is expected to be relentless in questioning Elliot and Elfmann as to their choices. They should demand that the proposed candidates allow themselves to be subjected to questioning so as to allow the candidates to defend themselves. If these explanations do not persuade the congress, the assembly should vote against the board.

Hamline juniors release sophomore disc
Hamline’s own Skyline Citizen is celebrating the release of their second album, Anyone Else Just Isn’t You, at Suburban Word Theatre in Uptown on May 5.
Band members Steve Helvig, Nick Fett, Jayden Grupe, and Tyler Scholl, all juniors at Hamline, are in their seventh year as a group.

Impressive play and April hot streak propel Pipers into hunt for playoffs
After running into a skid early in April where the Pipers lost six games in a row, Hamline has put together an impressive streak of play that has resurrected the season.
Last Wednesday the Pipers faced Augsburg in an afternoon doubleheader. Hamline won both games in two very different fashions. The Pipers edged out the Auggies 3-2 in the first game and then blew out the Auggies 15-0 in game two.
