Tenure in trouble at the bookstore
In a meeting on March 22 with Dean of Students Alan Sickbert and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs David Stern, Hamline bookstore owner, Dave Young, was informed that Hamline will not be extending his current contract past July.

During last week’s Founders Day keynote address, Yale professor and author Emilie Maureen Townes told Hamline students, faculty and community members that race, gender and class are not issues that are mutually exclusive. Dr. Townes explained that, as a womanist ethicist, she sees these issues as being inexorably tied and extremely important to social justice.

Troubled students respond with pride
Some of us are still trying to ascertain if Tim McDonald's Apr. 10 column was meant to be taken seriously. Of course you understand the difficulty in deciphering whether or not a letter that cowardly uses the term “Diversity Cabal” to air grievances toward individuals of color and inaccurately represents several incidents as truth, is earnestly trying to garner support from an intelligent community of higher education. However, it seems as though we’ve been put in the interesting position as being labeled representatives of a “growing and troubling phenomenon,” which, thank you, offers the fruitful opportunity to bring up a few things that trouble us.

Unpredictable weather halts athletics across the MIAC

Midway through April, winter resurfaced with a vengeance that has caused irreparable damage to the remaining season for all Hamline athletics.
