And yet, devistation remains
While it may be true that many students at Hamline and around the country are apathetic about taking action, they should not overshadow those who take the time and energy to make a difference in the world. The 57 people from Hamline who went to New Orleans over spring break are important examples of how the influence of friends and community can cause one to rethink what is important in life.

When residents entered the Sorin lobby on April 2, they found that the flat-screen television was missing.
According to a campus-wide Safety and Security e-mail, the television was stolen in the early hours of the day. The television had been there for three months.

Another Canadian stick sport jumps the border
It’s 7 p.m. on March 31. From a distance, downtown St. Paul looks like a quiet city on a cold, rainy evening but take a closer look and see what’s up at Excel Energy Center. Loyal enthusiasts of the rapidly growing sport, lacrosse, gather about for the 1000th professional lacrosse game played since its inception in 1987. The game played was the Minnesota Swarm v. the Colorado Mammoth.

New Orleans on our mind
Much has been said on campus this year about student apathy. The Oracle has made it’s share of comments about this campus phenomenon, along with HUSC and other student organizations. People just don’t seem to care about what’s going on.
As far as New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are concerned, the Oracle is ashamed to say that apathy, built up by ignorance, are the rule and not the exception.

When meeting a celebrity, one often wonders what they might do or say. Asking someone who starred in a television show you watched when you were younger how his or her day was seems nothing short of insane. There is no way that it could even be possible to hope that you might operate on the same spectrum, and that can be intimidating. It was surprising then, that when interviewing Shia LaBeouf, star of the new movie Disturbia, his demeanor was so casual that I was at ease when chatting with him, even at one of the swankiest hotels in downtown Minneapolis.

Women's lacrosse vies for varsity status, strapped as 'club'
The women’s lacrosse season is in full swing and pushing for university recognition as an official sport. Presently the sport is classified as a club sport at Hamline but the women’s lacrosse team plays against varsity programs from all around Minnesota. The team belongs to the Upper Midwest Women’s Lacrosse League (UMWLL), which includes both public and private schools such as the University of Wisc. River Falls and St. Olaf College.
