Staff Writer

Ted Zingman, Johns Hopkins University Assistant Women’s Soccer coach, was named to the position of head coach of Hamline’s Women’s Soccer team.

Director of Athletics Dan O’Brien said, “We are very excited to add Ted to our staff. He played an essential part in a strong Johns Hopkins program, and I am confident he will have the same impact here at Hamline.”

Zingman was assistant coach at Johns Hopkins for three years before coming to Hamline. Last year, Zingman assisted in leading Johns Hopkins to 18 wins, the highest record in the program’s history. Zingman also led Johns Hopkins to their second straight win at the Centennial Conference championships and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

“I’m very excited to be coming to Minnesota and joining the MIAC, which is one of the best Division III conferences in the nation,” Zingman said.

Zingman coached one All-American, six All-Region players, and four Academic All-Americans.

In addition to being a coach, Zingman was a soccer player at Johns Hopkins from 1996-1999 and helped lead the team to three NCAA Tournament bids and one NCAA Quarterfinal appearance. Zingman was also a two-time All-Centennial Conference selection, and set the school’s single season record for goals with 23. Zingman earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Johns Hopkins in 2000.

Zingman’s qualifications include holding a United States Soccer Federation License and National Soccer Coaches Association of America State and Goalkeeper Division I Diplomas.

Zingman has high hopes for the program and said he is “thrilled to lead the Hamline program to success.
