Correction
One of the greatest concerns with modern, mainstream journalism is the unethical “creation” of news. In the Nov. 21 issue of the Oracle, the story “Professor opposes new late fee policy” was framed unfairly and unethically. Prof. Melissa Embser-Herbert didn’t ask to be the focus of our story. She only agreed to be a part of a broader story of faculty reaction.
Printing the story with only one major source was a mistake. The Oracle is sorry for this inaccurate portrayal of the facts. We realize our obligation to the truth, and we apologize to Professor Embser-Herbert and to the Hamline community for not fulfilling it.
