Oracle endorses

Governor

Mike Hatch. After a distinguished stint as Minnesota’s Attorney General, Hatch is ready to govern Minnesota. We trust him to guide Minnesota in the right directiončaway from Pawlenty’s cuts to social services, support of anti-gay marriage amendments and conceal and carry permits. Hatch will support working-class Minnesotans (he is endorsed by several unions, including the Minnesota Nurse's Association and Teamsters Joint Council 32) and affordable college education, both of which are areas of great concern to us. Hatch will open the doors for funding stem cell research, a priceless gift to many Minnesotans afflicted with debilitating illnesses.

Senate

Amy Klobuchar. We choose to endorse Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar for U.S. Senate. In a recent television advertisement regarding the war, Kennedy explained that diplomacy in Iraq was not a viable solution. He concluded his support for the message by saying his stance “might not be what [we] want to hear.” Exactly, Mark. None of your positions are what we want to hear. We do not believe in an anti-gay marriage amendment. We do not believe in radical tax cuts that lessen our overall quality of life. We believe in Amy Klobuchar’s message of tolerance, affordable health care, repealing tax cuts for the ultra-rich and a strong background in criminal justice.

House

Patty Wetterling. While Minnesota has eight congressional districts, one race has generated a great deal of interest from our staff. This race, of course, is the U.S. House race in the Sixth District between Michele Bachmann and Patty Wetterling. We endorse Patty Wetterling because of her inspiring track record dealing with missing and abducted children, commitment to the middle class, and opposition to tax cuts and the war in Iraq. Wetterling has already proven herself a compassionate public servant, and hope to see her continue this work in Washington. Finally, a few words on Michele Bachmann. Essentially, she embraces everything we fear in a politician. She rose to political prominence with her hateful attacks on same-sex marriage. In rube-like fashion, she has questioned the validity of global warming and evolution. Bachmann also said that Terri Schiavo appeared healthy to her eyes, and that she pursued tax law because of her husband’s demands, and that wives are to be submissive to their husbands.

We look forward to this election and hope that it will reshape American values in the image of peace, progress and tolerance, and away from militarism, corruption and fear-mongering.
