After early wakeup, senior swaps guiding ideas in Framework

Every Thursday morning, senior Oren Robashkin wakes up five and a half hours before his first class for an 8 a.m. meeting. When he arrives at room 12 of the Law/Grad School, he engages himself in discussions about the university’s future with faculty and staff as a member of Nancy Desmond’s Framework group, Changing Realities.

The Framework needed a CLA student, and Kari Richtsmeier, the director of off-campus programs, nominated Robashkin for the slot.

Robashkin brings unique background to the team. Born in St. Louis Park, Robashkin moved to Israel when he was one. Robashkin and his parents lived in Israel until Robashkin was 15. He’s been here ever since.

“It leaves me with an interesting perspective on globalization,” Robashkin said.

While working with the other members of his framework, Robashkin said he is his normal, energetic self and he said he feels like he’s taken seriously.

“When I speak, people are listening,” Robashkin said.

Right now, his framework is still grasping at their scope, a process slowed when the group’s working definition of itself changes, as it frequently has, Robashkin said.
