Found in the Crowd
Hannah Kuether/Oracle: How do you pronounce your last name?
Cindy Schuchardt: Schuchardt, like a shoe and a cart.
O: How’s your year going so far?
CS: Splendidly. I started out the year as an SOS leader, and had my own FYSEM. It brought me back to my freshman year. I am currently serving as HEAT secretary and treasurer.
O: You do both?
CS: Yeah. I’m also a Bridges Scholars team leader, work at Sundin Music Hall, and am a tour guide. I also work at Bethel and the governor’s residence.
O: What’s your favorite job?
CS: Probably Sundin, because you get to meet lots of new artists and see performances.
O: What do you do?
CS: I work the box office, so I sell tickets and work the performances as well.
O: Why did you do Bridges Scholars?
CS: I didn’t know what I wanted to do. They really pushed the resumes and job shadowing. I’d never walk into the CDC and do it myself. It was nice to have a class that makes you do it.
O: What’s your major?
CS: Political science and religion.
O: Do you know what you want to do with that?
CS: After I graduate? No idea. I’ll probably go to grad school. The longer I stay in school the less time I have to spend in the real world.
O: What do you do in your free time?
CS: A lot of homework. I’m an avid Grey’s Anatomy watcher, and I like to be outside.
O: Did you rip your jeans yourself?
CS: No. American Eagle did it for me. You have to pay to have holes now. Oh! I hang out with friends. I like my friends! Put that in there.
O: Where do you live?
CS: Hamline apartments.
O: Do you like it?
CS: Yeah, I do. They’re nice.
O: I heard they’re expensive.
CS: Yeah, but that’s the part my parents will pay for, room and board. I know that Fernando Delgado lives above me.
O: Delgado lives in the apartments?
CS: He did over the summer. I’m assuming he still lives there. He came to our SOS training. And to the 100 [Who Influence] dinner.
O: Fun! Did you have to be invited?
CS: Yes, 100 people were invited.
O: Who was invited?
CS: Board of Trustees, some SOS leaders, Presidents of orgs, HUSC executive board, I think they planned it.
O: Any last parting thoughts?
CS: Everyone should go to Java Jives. There’s free coffee and good music.
O: What should Hamline University know about Cindy Schuchardt?
CS: That I’m super exciting...
