Women still dominate the first-year class, but men are catching up
Data on the first-year class is in. And it looks promising. The percentage of men in the first-year class continues to rise and the percentage of students of color rebounded back to 2004 levels. Director of Admissions Steve Bjork credited the rising male percentage to the coaching staff and admissions staff. Via e-mail, he said, “We have had great support from coaches in recruiting student athletes and some additional efforts to enroll men by the admission staff.”
As of Sept. 7, 429 first-years are enrolled. That number, however, is not official yet. That comes on census day, Sept. 19, the tenth day of classes.
Some facts stayed fairly constant. Once again, over three-quarters of the class are from Minnesota (77 percent), of which two-thirds are from the greater metro area. International student enrollment rose slightly from 3.1 percent to 3.6 percent.
15 valedictorians

3.41 mean GPA
24 mean ACT score
