Theater - in brief
As finals approach, the Theatre Department is currently working to present two student-focused events this winter. The theater will unveil “Under Construction: Works in Progress,” a dance showcase featuring 45 minutes of works in progress by Hamline’s Dance Ensemble under the direction of Kaori Kentmotsu.
“Under Construction” will also feature final dance projects from Hamline’s Dance 1 class and student-choreographed projects from Dance 2.
“Under Construction” runs Dec. 9 and 10 at the Anne Simley Theatre starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $1 for students.
Theatre Directing class students will be presenting their final performance projects this week. From classic to contemporary, comedic to dramatic, a large range of peer-driven plays will be performed. Responsible for finding and auditioning their own actors, these Hamline directors will present eight shows, about 15 to 30 minutes long, over two nights.
The Directing Class shows will be performed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 12 and 13 in Drew Residence Hall, Room 67 at 7 p.m. This event is free, but there is limited seating.
For more information about any of these events, call the Hamline University Theatre Box Office at (651)523-2905.
